Downgrading from 1.6gbps broadband package

Hi,

My broadband contract with EE ends on 3rd November 2026. I called EE today to find out what options would be available to me once my contract ends, as I would ideally like to downgrade to a slower broadband speed at a reduced price.

However, the salesperson I spoke to told me that a downgrade would not be possible, even once my current contract has ended. When I asked why this was the case, I was told that they “weren’t exactly sure”.

Can anyone provide any further information on this? Is it correct that I would be unable to move to a lower-speed package once my current contract has ended? I'm currently on the 1.6gbps package and now live myself hence why I would rather downgrade. I'd rather stay with EE as I get my phone SIM/EE One discount too.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

EE 1.6 Gig FF & EE < 1 Gig FF have diff provisioning & ordering routes & there is no switching between them  All you can do is cancel your current EE BB, maybe switch it to another ISP & then a few weeks later come back to EE as a new cust. for EE < 1 Gig FF.
