I have an EE mobile broadband mini hub. Works ok when plugged into USB charger in lounge, however how can I boost the signal through other rooms? Other rooms have ethernet and usb in wall sockets. I also have amplifier in cloak room with several ethernet points and a free mains socket

I believe so! The 2.4GHz band will reach further.

Ok, will give it a go. However, what bout selecting the 5 GHZ. Will this improve things?

Only for nearby devices. You can't have both.

Ok, JFYI, our set-up:
- 2 mobiles using wi-fi
- 2 smart TV's with freeview
- Amazon firestick
- Now stick
EE Mini Hub in the passage way, selected 2.4 GHZ
So far the reception is ok, speed ok. I think we have some old/dodgey Amazon firestick that probably needs some updating (not sure how?).
Will give this set-up a few days then switch to 5 GHZ and see if any difference
we are in a single story 2 bedroom bungalow. 1 bedroom, kitchen and lounge

Good. That'll be an interesting experiment.
