EE 5G sim not working in my router

I  have a motorhome that has a Teleco WFT402 4g router. Its worked perfectly well with a smarty data sim. I have recently moved from BT to EE in repect of two mobile phones so I thought I would stop the smarty sim and put in an EE sim. I was told that there was no need for an exclusive data sim so got a 50g 5g sim.

I put the EE sim in the router and everything looked fine th sim was recognised but no data was delivered. The router  has an indicator for 4g etc but this failed to illuminate. Is there something I need to do or have I been sold the wrong sim? Any replies or advice I will be grateful. I have got my smarty sim back in for the time being. I am considering changing the router and fitting a roof arial to improve the signal.

Login to the Routers WEb UI Admin page, go Profile / APN Settings and check the APN Settings are correct for the EE network.

Could the router be locked to a network, 3 on which Smarty is MVNO? When you buy it?

I am going to guess the same as the reply from XraySpex

If you purchased the Teleco WFT402 from one of the network providers, they often lock them to their network.  If it was purchased NEW from an ordinary retailer it should be unlocked.  If it is locked, some (most) providers will give you a code to unlock them but not always the case and Im not sure with this model.

My other thought is
regarding the new EE SIM card. Is it fitting into the slot/carrier exactly the same as the Smarty SIM card?

Thanks for the reply but the router is not locked I got the smarty SIM separately after purchase of the motorhome. Unless it's locked on once I put the smarty SIM in it.

Thanks for the reply the router is unlocked I will have another look at the SIM though it could be something like that

Dean

No it won’t lock due to a SIM card being inserted.
Good it’s not locked so look in to the SIM card fitting or seating properly

Yep will do that thanks
