Hi I have been using my EE unlimited sim for a wile now in a TP link router and it works fine (I have tested it in my phone and other devices so I know the sim is working fine)
however I have purchased a D-Link DWR-978 5G AC2600 Wi-Fi Router Super-Fast 5G 1.6Gbps MU-MIMO Unlocked router. And it will not connect or recognise my sim.
I have tried sims from other networks and they all work fine.
the device has even been replaced by dlink and still not working.
therefore concluding that the router is working fine and the actual sim aswell. The problem lies somewhere at EE

As your SIM works in other devices, it suggests a compatibility issue with your router.
I'd recommend contacting the manufacturer for support.

I have exactly the same issues. Get full bars of 5G on the phone, however the same router refuses to acknowledge it. Did you manage to find an answer?

Sorted it this morning!
So the automated firmware (over the air) updater isn't working on mine. I therefore went to the D-Link site and had a manual search. If you Google for FW 1.00.0037 RevA1, this is the latest update and it'll take you to the page.
Download the file to a computer or even phone.
Go to 192.168.0.1 and then, firmware upgrade, select manual and upload the file. It takes a couple of minutes. After doing this I'm now getting over 100mb.

I have the same issue but can not find the updated FW online, even by googling as you suggest. The D-link support site is down.
Could you please share the file by https://wetransfer.com/ or similar? That would be very appreciated! 🙏

I have a similar problem. Works with normal EE sim (pre pay). I have a Lyca sim and EE pre loaded sim and the router will not get a signal.
I have downloaded and updated latest firmware.
Seems an issue with third party EE sims and D-link 978.
