I purchased a 5G EE unlimited SIM card and put it inside a Dlink DWR 978 5G router. At first it can't connect to internet at all. But after many plugging in and out of the router it suddenly started to work for unknown reason. However it still can't work on 5G signal, although the router shows that it does detect strong 5G signal. Does anyone also has this issue? Any help appreciated.

Hi, I encountered the same issue. I believe I have the same router as yours (D link DWR 978), and I'm using a preloaded unlimited data sim card. Just wondering how did you solve this issue?

Hi! I've encountered the exact same issue with you. After plugging the sim card in and out over a course of a few days it suddenly started to work. However it can only uses 4G signal, even if the router itself says it can detect full 5G signal. Have you figured out what happened yet?

I'm not familiar with that specific router, but is there an option to manually search for a network? And if so - does EE show? Can you manually select it?

Yes I can manually select EE. Still can't get 5G signal though. And if I choose in the router to use 5G only it can no longer connect to Internet. The same SIM card works fine in my phone. I've also tried updating the firmware and manually configure APN. Doesn't seem to work either.
