Cant registere my number

My ex helped set my phone up years ago while working  and never paid much to do with it tried logging on to my ee couldn't find an account with .you email so set a new one up went to register my number and says its already registered but have no way of finding out. Any ideas

You need to call CS with both of you available on the line to effect a change of ownership. You will need to pass a credit check. You will then be paying for your own contract. If you can't do it together CS will give the current owner a password for you to quote when you call.
