Does anyone know of the new EE WiFi 7 router supports digital voice?
I am considering upgrading to 1.6Gbps now that EE offers a router that can support the faster speeds over ethernet. But when I look at the website, it tells me digital voice isn't available with the service. Is that because the new router doesn't support it?

Hello @Profile closed.
The Smart Hub Pro does support Digital Voice; It's just that voice isn't currently offered on our 1.6Gbps products. This won't always be the case however, I don't have any dates I can share at the moment as to when it's coming.

Thank you, @Katie_B.
Why is it that Digital Voice isn't offered on the 1.6Gbps product? I can't see any logical or technical reason since the service just requires an Internet connection.

@Profile closed It is available DV on any package up to Gbyte internet, it is not currently available on the 2 top tier packages, those are different, and a present DV is not available for those, and may become available at a future date! TV is also not available on those 2 packages.

Thanks @JimM11 . Any ideas why it's not avaialble on the 1.6Gbps tier? I can't see any technical reason for it. I'm starting to think I might just cancel Digital Voice altogether and get a VOIP service from a third party, then it will work regardless of provider. There's no reason why BT/EE couldn't be offering a service on all its broadband products, so I'm starting to think it just doesn't have any interest in residential voice services anymore. I guess so few people are using them that it's not worthwhile to invest in it, although presumably it will continue offering business lines and so I'd have thought there'd be some joined up thinking they could do here.

@Profile closed Believe it is both technical and also computer ordering side, the 1.6Gb/s although available as a package is also not available everywhere and to everyone at present, you would also have to see if you can get it from EE, you can also check other isp to see if offered that is sometimes easier if you have TV or DV at present. Will be as @Katie_B say's but it is the future with no current timescales applied.

Thanks @JimM11 . It's definitely an interesting approach from BT/EE. I just don't see the logic of having your flagship product not able to access a basic feature. Having done a bit of investigation today, I realise the Digital Voice is actually a pretty weak product anyway, in comparison to what's available from dedicated VOIP providers, so I may well move over to 1.6Gbps and just port my number to a company that specialises in VOIP, and then it becomes independent of my ISP. I almost feel that that's what BT/EE wants to happen, so that it can naturally exit the consumer landline market...

@Profile closed Certainly the way to go, i did drop the landline going from SKY to EE as i knew there would be nothing but DV, and the forum was not a pretty site regarding all the issues, but did want to go to BT but by March that was a not happening you have to goto EE, OK but forget the landline i do not want your product. Basic feature but as you say, no traction for getting anything sorted, but there must be many customers using, or just not complaining about it.

Thanks, @JimM11. Did you give up the landline altogether, or move it to another VOIP solution? Curious what you're using, if you've moved...

@Profile closed Gave up, main problem was keeping number that we had for 40 years, did not have time to deal with it, going back to one as soon as i see so light at the end of the tunnel, did look at voip, was a vonage user for 10years but was primarily business use at that time. EE mobile user, poor signal and rely on wifi calling, when that messed up for couple of days about a month ago, was the final straw, just got to get fttp finished couple of weeks time, then next is sort out DV.
