Hello all,
I have just left EE and ported my number elsewhere. This was due to plan changing from £32 to £38 with the April price increase. I spoke with retentions but the deals they were coming up with were nowhere close to anything I can get as a new customer.
I found a good new customer deal on the day that my number was due to be ported out and placed an order for a new sim. The order was held for review and when I spoke with an advisor she said the order would be cancelled as I already have an account, even though its closing. That was it, no alternative and the order was cancelled. She did say that I could place another order in a month or 2 and that it may go through or may not, as I would possibly fail the credit check due to multiple applications. (I have a 999 credit rating) It looks like EE are very much trying to make things difficult for people wanting to move out and back in again, and also that they arent too interested in keeping loyal customers.
Is there any firm advice as to how long I should leave it before placing another order. I dont really want to try again too soon and batter my excellent credit rating.
I have moved to Voxi and the service so far is very good and is almost 70% cheaper at £12 a month. I may just stay a while.

Hello @Paulg0.
Welcome back to the community.
It's great to hear that you are looking to join EE again.
Could you please confirm when your account is due to close and also the deal that you seen?
Speak soon,
Katie

My account closed yesterday. I found a deal with a combination of discount offers that ends up at £25.25 a month on a 12 month contract for the 125GB with 1 inclusive extra which I would have used to include roaming.

Thanks for getting back to me @Paulg0.
Was it our sales team you spoke with or a member of the customer care team?

After I placed the new order on the website the order page said "we need to check a few things with you" I was given a number to call 0800 956 6042. When I called I was asked if I already had an account. I explained what i was doing and was told I cannot have 2 accounts and that the order would be cancelled. The lady was quite abrupt with me.

Hi @Paulg0
Your credit score is irrelevant and nothing more tha a marketing gimmick. Your ability to obtain credit is dependent on the company you are applying to and their criteria, however a number of hard mobile phone application checks on your search history will have a negative impact on your ability to obtain any credit.
It is rare than any financial institution/Mobile provider would allow you to immediately return as this would flag up as suspicious and that you were trying to gain benefits you were not entitled to receive as a new customer, which you are not (as mentioned when you called EE).
As EE have said it seems there criteria for you to be a be a new customer would be 2 months, although to allow your hard credi searches to drop I would recommend 6 months before you apply again.
It seems you have leavers remorse, the decision was yours to leave. The CPI forms part of your contract.
Thanks

Thanks for your response Northerner. I have absolutely no remorse for leaving. The intention was always to leave a £38 tariff and rejoin on a £25 one. £38 is well above what I consider to be reasonable pricing. If EE don't want me back on my terms then thats their business, there are other cheaper choices for me out there. The EE network tends to be quite good though. I object to the CPI increases which is why my plan is to only ever take out a 12 month or less contract in future. And yess the CPI does form part of the current contract, they slipped that in by changing the terms long after I had signed up! I also object to the reintroduction of roaming charges but thats another story.
I have a dual sim phone and a combination of Voxi @ £10 a month with a backup connection on 1pmobile at £10 a month gives me good coverage including EE network on 1p and free Euro roaming for less than EE want. I'm kind of happy where I am now. Ill see how things go.

Well it appears that it's kind of official,
I was doubtful that the last advisor I spoke with who told me that I would likely fail the credit check if i tried to rejoin EE on a cheaper contract within 30 days was telliing the truth. She was however kind of fibbing.
I tried to rejoin today on a sim only deal a week after porting out to Vodafone. At the end of the ordering process I was greeted with a "Looks like you are already a customer, please call us" prompt. On calling I was advised slightly different this time that it takes 30 days to close your account fully and you can't rejoin in this time. I was actually given a date af 4th May being fine to place another order.
I reckon this is a restriction deliberately put in place to dissuade us from searching out back door upgrades avoiding the annual 15% price hikes. Fine by me I'll sit on 1pmobile for a month before I come back, or may just stay.
