My son went to Malta for 2 days and I have just been hit with an £8k phone bill. I called EE and they said that there is something wrong with their billing system. My phone and my kids phones have been cut off twice today as I am over my credit limit despite being told they have fixed the issue of being cut off and now the office is closed. EE, you really are appalling. The worst customer service ever.

That’s interesting, we had three phones in Malta, the phone signal was that poor we used the hotel internet a lot 🤔

Interesting indeed if you had the same! I will bring that up with them tomorrow when I speak to them 👍🏻

Out of interest what area were you in? We were st Paul’s bay! Now wondering if it’s that hotel

No we were at Mellieha

Ahh fair enough, that rules out it just being one hotel 👍🏻

Me and my wife travelled to malta on 05-05-2023

Her vodafone sim wasnt working but mine was and I was so glad

Came back and today got a message my coverage is suspended because am over the credit limit

Made 3 bill payments of almost £100 no luck

waited for almost 2 hours on 3 different calls to their customer service but no one picked up

Contacted their customer service via chat again no real solution.

My question to EE is

you knew there is some issue in Malta as clearly people have been complaining and facing the same issue. Did you bother to communicate this issueo on any of your online platforms? PS before travelling I checked EE mobile page and it said good service in Malta, no communication about this network issue. My second question okay, you didnt bother to communicate the issue on ur media platforms, did you bother to communicate the issue to customers that you knew were in MALTA? Clearly your systems are highlighting a issue in Malta and that same system is telling you customers like me are in MALTA, did you EE bother to communicate the issue to us?

More importantly have you communicated the issue now anywhere? or is it this bad that customes have to contact EE or read customer reviews to find out oh there is some issue with EE in Malta?

How do you claim your the uk best network when you and your customer services are so below average?

anyways I have been without coverage now for more than 24 hours.

Its funny I have paid £100+ for this no coverage.

Pull your socks up EE own your mistakes and stop making customers suffer for your issues.

Would be interesting to know how long EE have been aware of this issue?

Clearly they have known long enough to not do anything about it

but yes EE how long have you known about this and what have you done to make sure YOUR CUSTOMERS dont suffer if they happen to go on relaxing trip to MALTA.

Got to say, I'm a little relieved at finding this thread to discover I'm not the only one having those issue. Phone cut off this morning regarding extra charge, checked tonight as I wasn't aware afyer using wi-fi all day, and turns out I have almost £6k in charges after a 5 day trip to Malta.

I'll need to get this sorted in the morning, but seen one comment saying to cancel the direct debit. Surely they have to sort this before then so it doesn't cause any missed payments on your account? Shocking they haven't mentioned it either to customers. They must clearly see they have a huge spike in people being in one country this month and done something as soon as they became aware?! Shocking customer service if not...

Same. I got charged £3,466 after getting back from Malta last week. They cut off my phone too. They said they’re investigating
