I am he account owner for a business account and am now the only person with a phone. I am leaving and want to just change to consumer and keep my number and phone so go SIM only. I am now out of contract so paying what I was for the phone but the 24 months has ended. I called and was told I can do change of ownership but have to wait 90 days until the new SIM only 'upgrade' deal kicks in and until then have to pay the much higher amount paying now even though the contract is now over. Is that correct? Thanks

You can conduct a change of ownership anytime, converting the limited company line into a personal one.
Once that is done, you should be able to change your priceplan anytime if you are out of minimum term.
Your alternative would be to do the process in reverse - change your plan and then change ownership, the "new" owner would then inherit whatever minimum term is outstanding.

Thanks - though I was told be an EE person that I would need to pay the current much higher price for 90 days irrespective, even though I am out of contract (e.g my 24 months has ended but have just continued at same cost). Was the 90 days incorrect? Also whilst I'm here if I move to SIM only on same number do I need a new physical SIM or just everything stays the same? I was wondering if new card whether I lose apps and contacts. Thanks

You keep the same SIM. Just the plan on it changes. Any apps are on the phone, not the SIM, & usually so are most if not all contacts.
