Hi, the other day I got the advertisement to upgrade my broadband with the new white router, I asked by phone to upgrade my fiber and get the new white router. the girl I spoke to told me there was no problem, it was free and I would receive it in 3 days. today I received it but it is the same router I have had for 4 years, the black one EE SMART HUB. My plan is fiber plus. Can someone help me ?

Not seen the advert, but I thought the white router was used on full fibre products.

It sounds like you have just re-contracted with the same product. Perhaps you are unable to get full fibre in your area.

@Pietrosagnibene : You'll need to get on to CS if you feel you've been mislead.

If you're on Fibre Plus you don't need the white Smart Router. The black Smart Hub will do. Were you on Fibre Plus before all this happened?

To see if you could get a BB package for which the white Smart Router would be needed, what does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker.

No, @Mustrum , it's also necessary for G.Fast. In fact, it's not even needed for Full Fibre as the ONT is the modem. Practically any router will do for Full Fibre.

Yes i was already fibre plus, What do I do with the new router? Do I send it back or do I use it and send the old one back to recycle?

thank you

I would stick to the black Smart Hub as it is able to separate its WiFi bands & SSIDs. Something the white Smart Router can't which could lead you into passible connectivity issues with your 2.4Ghz WiFi only devices.

How about the BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker ?

yes, I wanted to ask whether to continue to keep the smart hub that I have for 4 years or to use the one received yesterday, they are the same model. Thank you

Not according to your OP. You've had the black Smart Hub for 4 years, but have been sent a new white router. That's a Smart Router.

Non secondo il tuo OP. Hai lo Smart Hub nero da 4 anni, ma ti è stato inviato un nuovo router bianco . Questo è un router intelligente.

no white router was sent to me, the same router I already have was sent to me.

Sorry, I forgot! Makes no diff which you keep.
