Smart Hub Plus Issues

mcottages
Visitor

Having just upgraded the new Smart Hub Pro it is very clear the Smart Hub plus has issues the random drop outs on wifi and a very very slow GUI in the admin panel.. The Smart Hub Pro is night and day in comparison.. Quick GUI, no dropouts, great speed and coverage..

It's amazing that the Smart Hub Plus which is pretty much the BT Smart Hub 2 with 6E instead is so terrible I'd of kept the old BT Smart Hub 2/stayed with BT if I knew the Smart Hub plus was going to cause so many issues.. Hopefully will be the last time contacting EE about something for a while..

The EE Smart Hub Plus is WiFi 6, not 6e, as it does not include the 6GHz frequency band.

It was their first router with a custom in-house OS and firmware so some bugs are to be expected, but the general theme is that it has been improving since launch. There were some issues with the BT Smart Hub 2 originally but it has aged into a very competent router over time, its possible the same could happen here with the EE equipment eventually.

The Smart Hub Pro is a much better router of course with better hardware and the addition of the 6GHz band is extremely valuable as it doesn't suffer the effects of congestion on compatible Wifi 6e or Wifi 7 devices, as well as being able to use this for backhaul between Smart Wifi Pro extenders.

No, the Smart Hub Plus is not pretty much the BT Smart Hub 2; it's the EE Smart Hub (2023) that is.
