There has been numerous posts over the last year or so of end users reporting devastatingly bad outcomes to migrating from BT to EE, well actually there has been some mildly annoyed customers but also some losing their mind entirely, probably rightly so.
This isnt that, this is a post to give some people some small faith that actually it can go well and hopefully answer some questions you may have.
I joined BT and signed up to FF900 and BT/EETV in Feb 2024, I took out the Big Sport package with the UHD/HD Addon utilizing the BT TV Box Pro. I cant remember the exact pricings but both were taken on offers at the time and some extra discount due to some ongoing complaint.
BT Package
BT900 = £40
EETV Big Sport = £36 (BTTV Box Pro Shipped)
UHD/HD = £6
I was paying £82 for a few months until the April increase which I had twice whilst still a BT Customer and as of my June 2025 Bill I was paying £94.02. A competitive enough price for top wack broadband and TV service with every sport channel and access to the same sports channels on the app based platform. Having a proper TV box was very useful and the primary method of watching Sport either recorded or live.
Mr Dev said that upcoming Ultra Boost for Sky Sports channels would ONLY be available to EE Broadband customers, I was keen to leave BT for EE due to this, even if its been nearly a year since that was sort of announced and the service is not there yet. None the less I wanted to move for when it did arrive.
The Move to EE
I did the entire thing online one night when I couldnt sleep, was straight forward and I moved from the exact same services on BT to the exact same services on EE, 900Mbps and Big Sport (with a box). One thing I was confused about was where the HD addon was, there is no separate addon now, it is just included with TV packages such as Big Sport (its more obvious as a new customer). My order told me I was stopping the HD addon, it worried me but thats just because it was leaving my old addon type line item with BT and with EE it was going to be incorporated.
Ongoing charges for this order
EE900 = £52.99
EETV Big Sport = £48.00
Broadband Discount = £5
My new bill is going to be £95.99 going forward, right so yes, shock horror, another increase from £94.02 to £95.99 and by the time April swings around ill be over a £100, not a threshold I wanted to break really but it is what it is.
For context I looked at 'new customer' prices for the exact same package (as of Online 31st July 2025)
BT = £94.99 (Will rise to £100 in April)
EE = £88.99 (Will rise to £94 in April)
We can also compare to Sky, another Broadband Provider who is providing TV
Sky Stream = £96 (£101 with ad skipping)
This was for Sky Stream and no ad skipping, with ad Skipping youre at £100, UHD will be there for TNT Sports AND Sky Sports, the latter not available with BT or EE. This is Sky Steam though, Sky Q, which more replicates the EE or BT service, starts at around £82 with Sport before you even add Broadband, that is with HD and not UHD.
I did all of this online pretending to be a new customer, right now the Sky price is the most expensive and a penny more expensive than my migration cost to EE, however I am getting a proper TV box, I place so much value in a proper TV box over Sky Stream Puck, I know they can closely mimic the proper box service but its still better having the box like Q, that is my opinion.
Im sure other folks might be able to get one off deals or find discounts or better renewal prices etc, but this is what it is like today.
I placed my order at 0030 Wednesday 23rd July 2025, I was told I would just keep my BT TV Box Pro and the EE branded replacement would not be sent. All that would be sent to me was a EE Router which arrived on the Friday 2 days later. My order completed the day after on the saturday without any downtime to Broadband or TV, really there should be none if you are moving the same products over. The EE App was now showing my packages and the BT App was not. The only thing I had to do was sign out of the EETV App and sign back in using EE credentials, this having little or no effect on my anyway, I only use the app to tell my box to record stuff and that still worked anyway. I dont use any TV apps on the BT Box, we have Apple TV's for that.
Soon after I received a mail to let me know to send my BT Smart Hub back, it was still in its box so that was easy, I use my own equipment. In fact all along the process I did receive quite a few text messages to let me know what was going on.
BT have billed me £3.25, I cant be bothered to figure out why but itll be something to do with where the service stopped in the months billing cycle and my EE first bill was £94.44, next month it will be £95.99.
All in all the process was fine, no outage, was kept updated and had to make minimal effort, this post is there to serve as a positive for EE. I had to renew my services in Feb 2026 anyway and didnt want to be at the mercy of whatever the pricing was then, being a proper new customer to EE would have saved me a few quid but as BT customers we cannot do that.
There you go, nice one EE, happy customer here.
