Returning kit I don't have after house sale fell through.

A day before I was supposed to complete on a house sale our buyer pulled out. So our move from Cheshire to Wales didn't happen.

I had previously arranged broadband and new kit was being sent to the house in Wales (a rental house). Obviously, I was not there to receive the kit.

I cancelled the broadband at the new address and restarted a new contract at my Cheshire address as the old broadband had been cancelled for the move, which is now not happening.

The guy I spoke to at EE was very nice and understanding and said I wouldn't have to worry about returning any kit or being charged. However, I keep getting reminders and warnings to return the kit that I did not get and that I may be charged.

Do I need to worry?

@Roysterini Yes you need to worry, you need to check if the order had dispatched the equipment at that time, which may be hard to find out depending on the timescale.

@Roysterini  If that kit actually got delivered then you need to make sure it’s returned.   you are liable for it’s return.
 The kit is sent out before the go live date.

Hi,

Yes but the customer services guy at EE knew the situation and assured me I wouldn't need to worry and that I will not be charged. He said if I am not there to receive then it will still be ok.

@Roysterini This is really up to you now, advice given and it is not going to go away by itself, NO one knows who you are, and what was said during your ordering process. Below is part off the help link to get you started.

You mentioned the sale was cancelled a day before planned completion.

Had you already exchanged contracts? Or was exchange & completion planned to be simultaneous?

@bristolian

My first thought too.

I hate this modern trend to virtually simultaneous (even actual) exchange of contracts and completion of the sale.
