Replacing my EE Router with Google Nest Wifi Pro

gossipgirl

Hi there!

I’m trying to set up my Google Nest Wifi Pro, but I’m having trouble with the settings. It’s asking for some information, and after checking a few articles, I found that the default PPPoE password might be "BT" or empty. However, when I checked my hub’s admin settings, it said, “The password is not displayed for security reasons.”

What I’m hoping to do is remove the EE Smart Router entirely and connect the Google Nest Wifi Pro directly to my Openreach GPON terminal. I really need help with the correct setup with the WAN settings.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

EE support just advised bridge mode

Bridge mode for what? EE routers don't have a bridge mode. They should know that, silly billies!

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Home Broadband & Home Phone or Option 2 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

I hadn’t actually checked that but seems ONT direct doesn’t pick up either so not sure what’s going on but I’ll try another solution I think lol

@TackyAuto You may wish to Factory Reset your Google Nest (Non Pro version) start again set the wan for PPPoE operation

The User as bthomehub@btbroadband.com and the Password as BT.

Then also consider the ONT and the Nest off for 30 mins so the system can start fresh with the both devices, ONT on when lights go green after a few minutes, Nest on and allow five mins to see if it connects.
