PPPOE Ont Credentials Not Working

I recently had EE Full Fibre installed (1.6Gbps) and wanted to use my own router connected directly to the Openreach ONT. I beleive this is done over PPPOE however when I use the bthomehub@btbroadband.com and the BT as a password I cant get it to connect at all. Tried with two routers so far and nothing.

Logged on to my EE hub to find out the password and its not displayed for security reasons!"

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

@Akimbo None.

But you are probably better to just power it of and let it reset that way, your EE router is working fine.

At this point it must be something to do with the password right. ?
just won’t authenticate even with no router and my pc plugged direct into the ONT. no router in between.

The authentication server does not need a password, but some routers do, hence when it does just use BT.

Are you copying and pasting the username from the EE Help page or are you typing it in?

Just typing it in.

Try copy and paste, make sure no extra space or characters.

@Akimbo The EE Router is working fine, the ONT is working fine, is this not your statement!!!

Hi Jim. Both are working fine together. The ONT will not play with anything else via PPPOE

type the username, copy past the username, with password, without password just shows disconnected

i even tried removing routers altogether and plugging my PC directly into the lan port on the ONT and setting up PPPOE on my PC directly

nothing absolutely nothing.

@Akimbo Was this Asus router used previous on the EE system before you upgraded to the 1.6G package, do you know if it was a working router or another operation mode previous to this upgrade?

@Akimbo  if you have the 1.6Gb service, the LAN port on the ONT is 2.5Gb.

As I understand it the Asus only has 1Gb ports, does the other router or your PC/Laptop have 2.5Gb ports?

If not that is likley to be the issue.

Hi Jim. Works fine when I plug it into the EE router without PPPOE
