Thought I would ask a question, not sure if possible.

So I have signed up with EE for the 1.6gbps and Smart Hub Pro Wifi 7.

Initially due to install this week, but got a new date of 27th June. Wifi is weak, so the fact Im getting a Smart Wifi Pro device is fantastic and was hoping there was a way I can connect the Smart Hub Pro to the Sky FTTP or Sky Router and utilise the Wifi 7 and Smart Wifi Pro while I wait for the Engineer to come out and change my ONT?

So OR engineer here currently... saying the OR network is fine, he is swapping out the ONT again, but is saying that if that doesnt resolve it, then I cant receive the 1.6gbps speeds offered.

@RobBark8 Get a speed test done while you have him, once over the 1Gb/s limit is all you need to see!

hes done twice, first was 890, second 860... the faffing around is unbelievable. Hes now trying to get another OR engineering that has a 2.5gbps ONT close by as he only have a 1GB one.

So apparently, we cannot get 1.6gbps speeds. Yet https://www.openreach.com/fibre-checker/my-products tells me I can get it.

@RobBark8 What is he testing with while trying to check the 1.6Gb/s speed, he better have a 2.5Gb/s Ethernet Cable Connected nic in his test equipment and for sure know that the device is capable of at least over the 1Gb/s speed so it does show correctly!

All the sales blurb more than likely say's you can have the 1.6Gb/s speed, why do you think OR Spent best part off a year trialling it all to see what/how good it was or did! Smoke and mirrors!

Infact... he didnt properly test the speed, as his laptop wouldnt work on the ethernet and he had to use my work laptop now that you mention it and I doubt I have a 2.5gb/s NIC in my laptop.

@RobBark8  From 2 day's ago... Just copied and pasted!

@RobBark8 Sync speed is the Port Nic's physical hardware, if it synced at 1Gb/s then you would never get any more that the 900's that you are showing, EE decide what you get down the pipe so they should have a value around the 1.8Gb/s mark, just do not believe they have not tested and seen what the can do, it's to the ONT through to the EE Router and back again, but as it say's on the Tin failed to achieve the 1.3Gb/s min, then something is right profile wise! Left hand / Right hand syndrome i would say, push the blame elsewhere. Hopefully you get a OR specialist who knows what it's about! If you don't have a 2.5Gb/s nic get one pretty damn quick before he turns up, or that phone is swapped out! You may need to be the tester!
