New Smart Hub Pro and Smart Wifi with 1.6Gbps - Slow Speeds

Just had the new Smart Hub Pro and Smart Wifi with 1.6Gbps installed. Installer tested the connection and confirmed it was at full speed. 

In practice, speeds are relatively slow and do not meet the guaranteed minium speed of 1.3Gbps. I disabled the slower 2.4Ghz band to make sure devices were only connecting to the faster 5Ghz band. This helped increase speeds a little bit. 

MacBook Pro M1 Max with Wifi 6 (5Ghz) is getting low 600's to high 700's.

iPhone 13 Pro Max with Wifi 6 (5Ghz) is also getting low 600's to high 700's.

Interestingly, Windows 11 PC with ethernet cable into the Smart Wifi extender is getting close to 1Gbps, so basically maxing out that connection.

This means the wireless connection between the Smart Hub Pro and the Smart Wifi extender is at least 1Gbps, so not sure why the wireless connections with my other devices are so much slower - Wifi 6 (5Ghz) is capable of 1.3Gbps after all and only getting half of that in ideal conditions (right next to router, no other devices using bandwidth etc.)

Any suggestions? 

As a side note, I'm getting a Wifi 6E (6Ghz) adapter for my Windows 11 PC (I've not seen any Wifi 7 adapters) so it will be interesting to see if I can achieve 1.6Gbps with that.

@SwanseaWifi7 Does your version of windows 11 support wifi 6e, and did you manage to enable the feature but it still did not work?

it does support wifi 6e... I also forced download of the latest 24h2 service pack update which now supports wifi 7. I didn't have to 'enable' anything but I did have to tell my adapter to change it's preference to join 6GHz as the preferred band. 

settings > network & internet > more adapter options (edit) > configure > advanced > preferred band > 6g first.

so are you not using the smart WiFi pro extender at all now?

That's right I'm not using it at all, and getting faster and more reliable speeds as a result.

The hub provides plenty of range for my 5GHz devices throughout my home (3 storeys) and my 6GHz device is sufficiently close to the hub where range isn't a problem.  

I may revisit the extender in the future, and see if I can solve the gremlins, but only if I need to extend range into my back garden.

Same symptoms as everyne else. 

Was working fine until a few weeks ago. 

Changed my router and now sorted.

I have the same issue a plugged in a separate WiFi router and the problem went away it's the hub it needs a update.

Disable ipv 6 give you 10 x speeds on the EE router my problem is the 6ghz drops out via WiFi calling and you can't change the channel etc. I changed my router to a WiFi 7 tuf to test it out and my phone picked up WiFi calling all bands 

Must be a problem with the firmware of the EE WiFi box .

@gazwales26 Had that discussion with EE on the 6+ version and wifi calling is nothing to do with them as far as they are concerned, if it does not work it's the device at fault, duh.
