New EE router not working with Smart Plugs

I haven't been able to connect my smart plugs to my new EE router since I got it over a month ago. I previously had 7 smart plugs and switches with my old BT hub but the new router has been a nightmare to comnect.

I have tried switching off 5Ghz temporarily but can't connect to any plugs whatsoever. I could get the plugs to connect if I switched off 5Ghz AND set WPA security to 'none' but when I turned the router back to default settings everything stopped working again.

An older post mentioned switching off 5Ghz and turning the firewall off but there's no setting for the latter in the EE hub menu.

Any help would be really appreciated, this has been so much more difficult than with my old BT router.

Okay EE, for the third time in over four weeks: please may I have an update on this issue?

This is bananas.

Can Neil or EE get back to me with a resolution to this issue as soon as possible.

If you think I'll let this issue go, then you're seriously mistaken.

Hi @Dreamnought,

I am sorry that we haven't been able to get back to you about this one.

@Neil-O hasn't had a reply back yet. I've contacted our developers and should hopefully have word back over the next couple of days.

Thank you
Daniel-S

So after a couple of weeks to-ing and fro-ing with an EE hub specialist via email and trying multiple settings countless times, I finally just demanded they send me a new router as I had previously suspected this was an individual fault.

This completely sorted the issue and the smart plugs connected first time on the new hub by simply turning 5GHz off and using the 'slow blink' method.

If anyone has a similar issue and reads this, please try everything in this thread and if nothing works, request a replacement hub. There are clearly some duds floating around.

Thanks to everyone who suggested help in the thread.

Now just to sort the awful range of these new hubs...
