Dropout of wired device during the day

Hi,

We have full fibre to the house with wired devices and wireless. Our main computer is an I Mac and is wired. We have several iPads a Mac mini and other devices including a solar panel inverter. All work until around 10.30 am when the wired iMac stops being connected. Network shows it as unplugged. All other wired and wireless devices work. iMac will work wirelessly. Checked cable between router and iMac and it’s good. The following morning the iMac is back working without being touched.  One reason we upgraded to the full fibre was to alleviate similar short time dropouts but it seems we have no service during the day.
any thoughts welcome

Malcolm

@what Router is the Ethernet connected on and are there any other Ethernet connected devices if used affected at the same time!

Thank you,

All other devices work and 3 others including a mini Mac and the solar inverter and are wired Ethernet. When the IMac stops responding the network says the Ethernet is unplugged. The following morning it’s working fine till just before Lunch. Only the IMac drops out. I have tested the cable and it’s fine. I have connected a laptop to the iMacs cable during the dropout but the laptop does not respond. Both work the following day.

regards

Malcolm

@Mal-110   did you get a new router when you upgrades to full fibre?

Have you swapped ports that the iMac uses and does the fault still haven?

Have you tried a factory reset of the router?  Pin or similar in the little hole on the back of the router for 30 secs.

Hi
Yes we got a new router, the installer had no finesse and seemed rushed. I have changed ports on the router but not as yet done a reset, will do it shortly.
Thank you

Hi there
The router is an EE smart hub plus.

@Mal-110 As it seems to be a daily event for you, please just swap the ports over first as that test! I asked the question to you in a specific way with you replied answer which was consistent and expected. If you do many things at the one time it is unknown what or if any cure fixes the error.

@Mal-110   if you are having the same issue after changing ports and all other devices are working it could be a access/parental control issue on the app, or even on the iMac itself.

If all other devices continue to work and the issue only occurs on a single device, it is not a fault of the broadband line or installation, but more likely to be the ethernet port in question.
