What is the name of the EE BB plan are you on including its speed? Some of the higher plans will include Smart Hybrid Connect, a mobile router that takes over the connection when the mail BB router fails. Perhaps you received this in advance of the main router.

Yes, I was saying that when you order fixed Home BB you might get a mobile router as well as part of the package as a fall-back against the main router going down.
