Leaving EE, what happens?

I feel EE are having my pants down, £49.99 for Full Fibre 150, £7.00 for Extender 6 plus and £5 for internet landline I never use! Seriously considering leaving and  getting a TP-Link Deco X50 for the full wifi as it seems quite expensive at 49.99. Maybe Plusnet for a fraction of the price even though it's the same company!

So the questions are..

I return the hub and discs, do EE provide a free return options for these?
EE moved me from BTinternet but kept my btinternet email address, what happens with this? I've known people who have left EE but still have access to their bt email is this the case?

@jezthomp1 Yes EE will send you a returns package at the end, you have 60 days to get it all back to them before they charge you. The BT E-mail address will stay with you on moving that is a term off the BT account, although they may drop you down to seeing it via web mail connection only, that you have to see, and you may no longer be able to manage multiple accounts via the new option.

Not sure if you can do a EE to PN option as they are part off the same group off companies, just try and see. PN do supply there own Hub as well, have a look on there Forum if they allow Third party connected devices and supply the security details to connect. 

No Landline Phone off any kind so you will have to get rid off with a PN connection you are aware off that fact i assume, you wish to keep a phone, then Sky/Vodafone etc will do that for you. Link below explains it all, OTS transfers are 7-21 days estimated but do vary. Both sky/vodafone supported landline are zero monthly cost but are very expensive per call without having a call package in place, free phone calls are always free to 0800 and emergency services etc, just the heads up if you wish to consider, but exactly like EE you have to use there Hub to connect the phone.

With Tp-Link do keep in mind ALL the services are at an additional cost, and there is a serious lack off Ethernet ports if you are using Ethernet, and there Pro units are way better than the standard ones.

Use cashback sites if you're moving as you might get a bonus. 

Sounds like you need a tech upgrade and buying your own router which provides better coverage is a good start.

Yes we're looking at the TP-Link Deco X50(3-pack) which does include ethernet and homesheild as we're only really concerned about parental setting, may even connect direct to ONT and not use any new router depending on who we go with.

Just think 49.99 seems a lot for 150 down FTTP

@jezthomp1 You do not say which EE Package you have so the £49.99 may be the top off the line ultimate if so it can be a bargain with all the extra features you get with it. Linked the Tp info below, be sure the basic does cover what you need, after that it is a yearly subscription service for the extended features, they are not Free. Idea off the additional is below 2nd link, so you can factor in what you need. Only Asus is all inclusive but they are more expensive gear wise.

@jezthomp1 Disregarded both your landline and the Extenders, your landline is a personal choice to ditch it or not, for me i kept, if the mobile service which is not great best off times then there is just no secondary method to call with, the Extenders you have got, so good possibility however you selected as an ISP you would require again, NONE give them away as a free option, but yes the FF150 price you are paying is just unknown, EE have four packages available from bare minimum to all singing all dancing the top of the Range cost's way more. Edit:- Also see you came from BT back Jan2025 so no idea what was done when you moved or if BT/EE is getting the payments back over your 24 month re-contract or not.

Deco mesh does take care off your home side, but you will be getting a ISP supplied Hub, your choice to use it or not, require a landline then 99% off the time that ISP hub is going to be needed to get a landline working. Thank you, we don't use out 'landline' 99% of the time. Feel aggrieved paying £7 a month for the mesh extenders when I could fork out for Deco X50 and pay it off after 2 years of what I'm paying EE for it and then it will be mine whatever ISP I'm with!

With EE full fibre can you connect direct to ONT and not use their router, do most ISP allow this these days?

As you say EE current 500Mbps is 28.99 even after year to its still around 36 I think, mine coming to an end in January is 49.99! 😞

@jezthomp1 Connecting direct to the ONT with a Tp-Link Router, VF you need to go get all the details from them, sky just set it up direct and forget all about the MER when you look on the sky Forum for help EE just follow the Third party device connect linked below. Yes, as long as you don't want DV you may connect your own router to the ONT with EE Full Fibre. You should be prepared to put your EE supplied router back in when reporting an issue.

In Using & Configuring a Third Party Router you'll find everything you need to set up your router incl. the BB PPPoE creds. which are now the same as BT's.
