I had broadband and home phone installed last Wednesday and the broadband is working brilliantly.
My Land line however is not working and I can't make or receive calls. When I lift the receiver and listen there is a message from BT about the phone not working.
I've also tried a 2 pin and a 4 pin cable from the phone to the router but it's made no difference.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

You shouldn't need to. It'll be a fault with the DV system itself. Report it to CS.

@SteveTysall The 4 pin or 2 pin does not matter, all uk phone only use 2 pins, Was the landline working before your install, and correct it does now plug into the rear of the router on the BT style connection. You may have had a failed landline setup and will have to call EE CS to have a look at it. Would have thought by now enough time to get working. Fact your getting some voice down the fibre to digital port. To test if you are on the new EE you can use the text service.

It's not really a fact! You get a BT msg (something about line not being available) out of the router's phone port even when you don't have DV.

My landline has been set up and is ready to go since last week but I am unable to use the phone as there is no dialing tone just a message saying there is a problem.
My phone is plugged into the back of the router but the phone is well over 10 years old, do I need to purchase a new handset??

Does the engineer need to visit to rectify this problem or can it be done remotely?
