Hi everyone,
I’m currently using EE broadband in the UK( Fibre 67). The router provided by EE is placed in the storage room because that’s where the only Openreach master socket is located. The WiFi works fine, but I need a stable Ethernet connection in my bedroom for my desktop PC.
The issue is that my bedroom is far from the storage room, and I really don’t want to run a long Ethernet cable all the way through the flat.
Here's what I tried:
In my bedroom, there’s only a telephone port. I connected an ADSL filter to it, then used a white cable to connect it to a second router, and from there a black Ethernet cable to my PC. Unfortunately, this setup doesn't work – I don’t get internet via Ethernet on my PC.
So my questions are:
1.Is there any way to activate the telephone socket in my bedroom to work with EE broadband? If I call EE, can they enable that socket remotely, or would an engineer be required?
If it can be activated, do I need to use the official EE router in the bedroom, or can I use any third-party router?
2.If that's not possible, what are the best alternatives to get Ethernet in the bedroom without running a long cable?
Option 1 (running a long cable) is my last resort. I’d prefer a cleaner and more convenient solution if possible.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Consider PowerLine adapters which plug into mains power sockets and carry the signal through the mains wiring.
