Engaged tone on landline so unable to make outgoing calls

Any help would be much appreciated, because since switching to EE and also using the Digital Voice service, it's been nothing but bother.

  • We have a constant crackling on the line,
  • For a time we were unable to receive ANY incoming or outgoing calls
  • Now, we can't make any outgoing calls, and there is an engaged tone when you attempt to make a call

We've done all the expected steps, reset everything, switch everything off and on again, tried to call "technical support" who very proudly said there was nothing wrong with our line and everything was fine from their end, and then left us hanging, with no further steps forward or suggestions. (tried both the message service and calling directly)

So like I said, ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Try phoning voice mail on 1571. Voice mail which activated by default and the intermittent dial tone indicates there are messages.

thanks, but that doesn't work either. I can't make any calls. even to voicemail. it's an engaged tone the whole time and won;t connect the call.

Try switching your router off for 30 minutes and then switch it back on and see if dial tone has changed.

Have you checked your voicemail inbox on 1571 as recommended to make sure its not a pending message causing the engaged style tone? 

You may want to text PHONE to 66033 and this will engage our diagnostic tool to run a check on your phone line for any issues and if it is unable to resolve it, then it will arrange a call back with our technical team to help sort your issue.
