Our BT broadband contract came to an end so we've moved fully to EE now and been sent out an EE Smart Hub Plus to replace our BT Smart Hub 2. There seems to be a considerable reduction in range with the new EE box and an unstable or poor wifi connection in parts of the house that were fine with the BT box. All in all it feels like a downgrade, has anyone else had similar issues with the EE boxes?
I'm tempted just to send it back and stick with the older BT box but not sure if that will cause any issues down the line..
Thanks

Yes the LED is lit . sorry for all the questions - I will get a local WiFi consultant to come and have a look at the set up for me. Many thanks for your advice but I think someone needs to have a look at it here in the house

Hi Jim
A friend has suggested using a tp link Mesh WiFi extender AC1900mbps

That is the link for it

@JSACollins You already have a tp-link powerline adapter with wi-fi and ethernet although a little slower because of the type. Full blown 5 unit smart wi-fi mesh capable from EE. DO you have the ability to look at and understand, find the IP of the tp-link if i give you guidance. Do you have a windows laptop, i am not an apple person? Will watch for your answer.

I don’t have a laptop - I only use an iPad

@JSACollins If you open up a browser, and type in 192.168.1.254, can you see the EE router web page. Try this.

Experiencing the same thing. We switched over from BT this week (part of a better mobile deal). Finding coverage around the house considerably worse than the BT router, which will be an issue working from home. Will be interesting to see what response you get (raised a query myself).
Still have the BT router. Chat on here sounds like I can plug that one in instead?

@Ross25t Yes you can still use the old BT router, if it is requested back there is a 60 day period, so DO please hang onto it until you are happy. The BT router does appear to be superior with regards to the Wi-Fi signal, and the only apparent issue at present seems to be you have to use the EE app to administer some functions which are not fully functional YET, and speed if on the 1.6gb package and possible landline. There are no 2 routers which are alike and you are finding out. Hope this helps.

Thanks. Not been asked for it back yet, so may switch back to the BT router whilst my technical query is being investigated by EE. I did try the EE app this morning, but it wasn’t connecting with the router! Will continue to try that as well

I'm having a similar experience. I've just (1 week ago) moved from a slightly older EE Smart Hub (around a year old) to the new Smart Hub Plus and it definitely seems to have a much shorter WiFi range. The system is also having a few stability issues on wired and WiFi connections too, but I am hoping that this will level out after 10-14 days. Overall I have seen an improvement in speed tests, just that I can no longer use WiFi in the further parts of the house.
