Our BT broadband contract came to an end so we've moved fully to EE now and been sent out an EE Smart Hub Plus to replace our BT Smart Hub 2. There seems to be a considerable reduction in range with the new EE box and an unstable or poor wifi connection in parts of the house that were fine with the BT box. All in all it feels like a downgrade, has anyone else had similar issues with the EE boxes?
I'm tempted just to send it back and stick with the older BT box but not sure if that will cause any issues down the line..
Thanks

Yes I’ve got the same and been told it would be an extra cost for booster discs

@Cath13l That would be correct, if the Wireless signal from the Router does not reach were you need it then there is the optional addon for Smart Wireless extenders at a cost to you of £10/month.

New EE booster 13 M away from new EE Hub. The Booster is in a garden hut. The old BT hub and booster were in exactly the same relationship before. The BT booster worked fine. In the new arrangement, the EE booster (that can’t be hung on a wall either unlike the disk) is permanent orange light. EE made us return the BT booster on pain of a fine. Since the new EE booster doesn’t work - I’d rather return it as trashing it could incur a fine. I prefer to control the EE booster from the hut rather than a compromised location closer to the EE hub, within the confines of the main property around 6-8m from the hub instead.

@Sarakani Orange should be ok for the booster, so what is your problem?

I thought it should be a light green like the hub. In the previous arrangement, the BT booster light was the same colour as the hub. I’ve been informed that orange implies the distance is too great.

@Sarakani Read the link posted to you, it is distance related but if it is working then it's functional.

Thank you. If broadband is working (that I may not have time to check easily as I’m off on a retreat) this should be a solution. I felt that orange was not good enough but may be wrong.

@Sarakani That is your call, ideally aqua would be best.

Yes this is exactly what i have experience in the short time since they moved us to EE from BT. Customer service seem satisfied that they are not obligated to help other than offering a more expensive service. The range within the house of any wifi is of no concern to them. I have poor connection and my ee tv box with is less than 4 m from router.

Hi @Don211
I am sorry you are experiencing problems with the WiFi range in the house.
If you would like to discuss your options, I would suggest getting back in touch with our tech guides who will get this looked into for you.
Leanne.
