EE 1.6 - Seem to be capped at 1Gbps

Morning,

I just noticed my EE speeds seem to have capped themselves again (similar to what happened back in February)

Is anyone else getting reduced speeds? I seem to be behaving like im on a 900mbps profile currently.

Have tried a reset and am connected via 2.5 LAN directly to my Unifi Fibre.

@kjw_kjw Are you 100% sure that the port is at above the 1Gb/s, quick removal off the Wan connection give it a minute and then back on, test again and see Ethernet only. If wireless testing and your device can get above and show then WAN connection is not the issue.

What speeds are reported by running the speed test in the EE app? That will not only measure the raw BB connection speeds you are getting at the router as well as speeds to the device from which you are testing.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

Yep, positive! I am happy with my network... ONT/WAN connected at 2.5gbps and uplink to my core switch is up at 10gbps.

I will continue to investigate, hopefully just a blip.

I remember well jumping through all the hoops requested by EE in February and turned out to be a massive problem on their side.... hopefully im not wasting my time again 🙂

@kjw_kjw Having been through it all before then you should be able to tell if CS is blowing smoke up your rear again. Did send you a PM.👍

Edit:- sure looks fine Unifi wise, you can only test your connection out and see what / where you trust it all to be. Looks like you have a pretty good handle on it though.👍

I am having this exact issue and I am also on Unify, where I have the 1.6gb plan and I am only getting around 900mbps, EE have even done a seize and reprovide to ensure its not a profile issue and I am still getting around 900mbps

@RemiGruszka Same for you then, 2.5Gb/s wan interface connected, and then a device that is capable of going above the 1Gb/s limit if not clamped on an Ethernet port at those speed's, so ideally on mobile or above see what the sync speed is like or a laptop wifi etc, my wifi 5 Asus syncs at 1733/1733Mb/s internal no speed issues but only have a FF500 Broadband connection so that is as good as that speed test get's.

If your EE app is working it may show you the speed to the Router then Device and if the Router is 900Mb/s it will indicate failed as below the guaranteed that EE agrees to which is 1.3Gb/s if my memory is correct. Will find an app speed test and link.

A Pro on a FF900 connection.

Right I have just done some work @JimM11 and I am now getting 1.5gbps on my UDR7, so when I just use the EE hub that reads a 1.68gbps to the hub which is fine, turns out that PPPoE takes up a huge amount of headroom on a ubiquity system and it throttles the speeds. For now I have had to go and put the EE hub ahead of the UDR7 and effectively have a double NAT but this has allowed the speeds to be where they need to be. I am going to have to invest in a Gateway Fibre to put ahead of the UDR7 to ensure that I can get the speeds and go completely via the Unify system.

@RemiGruszka No way that is happening on a UDR7 for a PPPoE connection, could see it on a VPN or a wireshark but not a straight connection.

OR supplies a 1.8Gb/s - 110Mb/s ratio for the 1.6Gb/s to get close on a pppoe. Have a look if the UDR7 allows you to set a MTU/MTR and drop it back to 1492 for pppoe

There was a gateway fibre on the Forum the other week, pants for throughput you may wish to find that and have a read.

Yeah but when you tie it in with Traffic Monitoring etc it will, UI themselves have said this is potentially the case.
