Does an EE SmartHub Plus on Full Fibre (FTTP) work with a BT Digital Home Phone

Hi,

I’ve switched over to EE Full Fibre (FTTP) broadband and telephone. I’m currently using my old telephone; it’s connected into the back of the EE SmartHub Plus, for VoIP/Digital Voice.

I want to upgrade to a new telephone, and I was looking at the BT Essential Digital Home Phone, link below.

https://store.ee.co.uk/products/bt-essential-digital-home-phone-090709-G4Z9.html

On the website it says the following, "ONLY WORKS WITH BT DIGITAL VOICE SERVICE"

Please could someone clarity if this phone will work on the EE SmartHub Plus. I’d want to sync it to my EE SmartHub Plus router using the WPS button but I’m concerned if it’s compatible or not?

Many thanks for any help.

Your issues have now probably been dealt with but for what It's worth, here are my recent experiences.

I was "persuaded" to move from BT (which I was happy with, apart from the cost) to EE, as everybody will eventually be moved over to EE (according the person on the phone at BT).  This was a very easy procedure and the transition was as easy as you could wish for (made the savings I negotiated worthwhile).   I did have concerns about losing my BT wifi range extenders but the new EE hub covers my house adequately. I did worry about the BT Digital Home Phones but again - they all registered and worked fine...until yesterday.

The phones seemed to be able to "call out" (or receive calls) but the "voice" in VOIP was missing. No side-tone, just silence. I tried re-registering, checked for software updates and everything was up to date. I scoured the EE community and bingo , there was a solution - albeit not a 100% perfect one.  Posters said to try and reboot the hub (ideally leaving it powered down for a few minutes). I did this and now the phones work...for the moment. Some posters say the problem resurfaces and others say they have had no more problems (touch wood).

If I could emulate Microsoft and "roll back" my broadband and phone setup to BT - I would do so in a heartbeat - despite the extra cost.

@Uxbridgehorn If you have your old BT router you can put it back on and see if your DV experience is back were it was.

I'm afraid I cannot as I had to send my old BT hub back or incur a cost.

@Uxbridgehorn Do keep an eye out when you have issue with DV and record time date, some seem to have none then rash appears, FW is being updated and EE are always working on the service so can be hard to determine what is going on, at least power off/on is a temp fix, but as you say don't want to be doing it all the time.👍
