Can I use a TP-LINK RE 550 1900 wifi extender with my Smart Hub?

I recently git the 1Gbp full fibre and had to relocate my router which means I have poor WiFi signal in my upstairs rooms.  EE unfortunately didn't offer me their Smart wifi as part of my signup and now I am kind of stuck on how to boost my wifi signal. So 2 questions really, 1) does the Smart Hub support OneMesh? And 2) does the Smart Hub work with the TP-LINK RE550 (which is currently on less than half price on Amazon)?

You should be able to use any Mesh system with the EE Smart Hub (except EE's own Smart Discs).

It's your choice whether you leave the SH's Wireless enabled or not. If you do you can run it as 2 separate WiFi networks or make them the same as each other.

@Bowkes   so yes you can use that device to extend your WiFi.

Have you looked at the spec? https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/range-extender/re550/

So like your current router via WiFi you might get 400Mbps ish a bit further away from your existing router, what are you looking to acheive?

Hi, I am having coverage issue: 3 discs are not enough for my property. Now I bought TP LINK to place in between but the discs still looking for the hub and do not want to connect via TP!  Although I renamed it to have same name as the hub!

@NatalieBark That is not the correct way to do or setup a mesh system. What EE router do you have? What EE smartwifi do you have? And what Tp-Link device did you purchase?

@NatalieBark You wrote "Hi, I am having coverage issue: 3 discs are not enough for my property. And what is actually going on with the RE, is it not connecting to the EE router?

Yes I have 2 discs and awaiting for the 3rd. Hub is on the ground floor. Then RE on the 1st floor boosting the signal. Then I want 2 discs to connect to RE not the hub but they are still “looking” for the hub which is too far away.

@NatalieBark   the TP Link is a lower spec than the WiFi discs which if you have the right ones are designed to only work with the Smart Hub plus.

Why are you not putting the EE discs closer to the Hub, then see if you can get the TP Link to still work?

I am not putting the discs closer, because I need to achieve the coverage in the property and it’s quite big. If I put them closer then half of the house won’t have coverage at all…
