No catch-up on smart tv

My Sony smart TV is two rooms away (in a modern, timber-framed house) from the EE router - about 35', around two corners - yet catch-up is at best intermittent, at worst non-existent. It's too far for an ethernet connection. EE offer an extender for an extra monthly payment, but I'd prefer an outright purchase. Is the WiBoofy extender as good as it sounds? Any suggestions welcome, thanks.
