Had Great reliable service over the last year but today the download speed has dropped from 1.6Gbps to 50Mbps, when I called they said it was a know issue with "the package" whatever that means, not a local issue. Anyone else have the same?

The 1.8 Gbps service uses a different system at EE's end than its lower speed tiers. I know this because when I wanted to upgrade from 1 Gbps I was told there was no upgrade path, as they are on different systems. To provision 1.6 Gbps for me, EE had to close my old account, waiving the early exit fees, and then create a new account for me, on the 1.6 Gbps platform.
So, whatever change has caused this issue seems to have been applied to the "new" platform only. Maybe EE is trying to bring the two systems together?
It's beyond me why, when BT decided to make EE its consumer brand, it didn't scrap all EE broadband systems and just rebrand BT systems and adopt them. They weren't perfect, but they were infinitely better than the systems EE seems to use. I mean, it can't even develop an app that reliably let's us see our account details...

Still down here.
Called up, told there's a software defect and issue will be resolved end of day.
Expressed my frustration and the poor handling of this issue for what it's worth.

Also getting this issue as of 5pm on Sunday with only getting 30Mbps down in the East.
Called them up this morning and was told that hopefully this would be solved by the end of the week...

Likely many more hours going by the post above 😂

@Cstarks It's all going to be who get's spoken too now, and the response that has been told, just all depends on the expectation by the Team and all that is involved, the fix first then all the equipment that has to be sorted out which may be multiple server's....

Reckon they could move us with no service to a different package that isn't having this issue?

If it requires them to do more work then absolutely not.
