iPhone 12 and 12 Pro preorder thread

Saw that there was an XS/XS Max thread back in 2018 and fancied seeing if anyone would respond to a new one for the iPhone 12 preorders!

 

Ordered myself an 128GB iPhone 12 Pro in Pacific Blue, albeit it with minimal photos showing the new colour so I'm a little nervous as someone who's gone Silver for the past few years.

 

Order is currently sat at Order Confirmed, Awaiting Confirmation for the delivery date but I hope this evening (as per previous years) it changes to delivery for Friday.

 

What phones and experiences has everyone else had this year?

I am looking to preorder the 12 pro max as part of my upgrade plan (first time upgrading).

 

Will I need to send my current phone BEFORE the new one arrives?

I spoke to EE on the launch date as I had an overdue bill and wanted to let them know I'd be paying it on payday as I've just switched jobs, so I thought I'd query about my iPhone 12 Pro order. I was told on launch day it would be with me by Saturday or Monday which I wasn't too stressed about. Saturday came and absolutely nothing. So I called again. I was told they were going to check, where I was placed on hold. An hour and 30 mins went by and the phone call was just ended by them. It's now Monday and I'm still waiting for a message from DPD about my delivery. Nothing still so doubt it'll be today I receive it. I'm just incredibly disappointed with EE as I've been a loyal customer for quite a while and both my parents have been with them for many years and always thought the best.

I ordered my iPhone 12 Pro 512 in Pacific Blue on the 21st October. 


Since then my delivery date has been 'awaiting confirmation'

 

I called EE just now and the advisor said looking at my order number (i guess it must be one of the early ones) I should receive the handset "by the end of this week if not then certainly by the end of next week"

 

Not sure how true that will turn out to be but hopefully the advisor had some insight into the progress of the deliveries. 

 

Im leaving the country on the 9th to return to work so It'd be a shame to miss it. 

@Meercha I did the trade 2 years ago. I had to backup to a computer and then hand the DPD driver my old (wiped) handset at the door when he delivered my new one. 

 

This isnt a great method as it means you can't use Apple's migration facility where you offer the new phone up against the old one to start the transfer procedure. 

 

I can't comment if it's still like this as I've not traded mine in this year and have opted to sell it separately instead. 

Mine has updated to being delivered between 30 Oct to 2nd Nov. 

My order on Friday failed, so that order was placed early Sunday. 

I'm not too upset as when my order initially failed, I threatened to cancel and leave EE, they offered me 10% off my plan - which I prefer to getting the phone a week earlier, anyway!

@Paul_Redeker  You don't have to give your old phone back at time of delivery, you get 14 days from delivery of your new device to return it. 

I just received a text saying "your order number XXXX is on track". Seems like a pointless notification as delivery date is still 02 - 07 Nov. Ordered 256GB pro pacific blue on the morning of Monday 19th.

I’ve cancelled my order, and managed to get it at Carphone warehouse on store today, got £640 for trade in so paid £360 in the end. And will sort out a sim only plan. 

I just had the same text, I was being hopeful for a moment, but as u said nothing changed with my order status or such

I also got an email today saying my order is on track and will be delivered between the 26th-31st October. But when I go into the tracking online, it still says awaiting confirmation. I’m not holding out any hope that it will arrive this week at all.
