It is an expensive FTTP product aimed at businesses who can pay most if not all the £10000s of costs of laying it on.

I live in a Close of 10 houses, off a bigger road with dozens of houses. All these other houses have FTTP being installed by digging the road as we speak.
Any ideas why we've been bypassed ?

Yes, that property has WBC FTTP available, you don't. OR has cabled right up to the house as part of their national bid to get FTTP to most of UK.
