I need to unlock an iPhone I've bought.
It's on EE, but need it to work on another network.
I spoke to EE, but they said it's easier on the App and you don't need a SIM card in the phone. However, I can't find the option to unlock.
Can someone help?

I bought the iPhone from a 2nd hand phone shop.
I have an account with EE.
I've rang customer service again and they've put in an unlock request for me.
Thank you.

Hi @SargFowler
Welcome to the community.
Where did you purchase the iPhone?
Do you have an EE account?
Thanks 🙂
Leanne.

Where did you yourself get this device itself originally? Did you buy it yourself new direct from EE or from a 3rd-party reseller or is it 2nd-hand? The unlocking process & costs are different. Was it originally on contract or PAYG? How old is it? EE won't unlock contract devices less than 6 months old.

Hi @SargFowler
You will be contacted once the device has been unlocked or if the team need any further details or payment for the unlocking request.
Leanne.

I’ve just put an EE sim in the iPhone and tried to unlock via the EE app and got the error “We're unable to unlock a device with this type of account”. Does this mean I won’t be able to unlock the iPhone?

Hi @SargFowler
The device can't be unlocked through the app as this is a second hand phone, the team will get back to you once this has been unlocked it can take up to 10 days.

I have the same issue, a 2nd hand iPhone 5c locked to EE. My EE SIM is only PAYG so cannot use my account to unlock the phone....what's the best solution for unlocking?
