Switched from Monthly contract to PAYG

Evening

I have recently ended my monthly contract and switched to a Pay as you Go Sim (the PAYG sim is not working).

I called last Saturday to do this and an EE employee told me that this would be sorted in the week however it was not. My monthly contract was cancelled but my Pay as you Go sim was not activated. I then had to call again today and make the request again.

An EE employee changed my account to a PAYG account. I have topped up £10. I cannot however pay for/use the topped up money to pay for any packs. You have gladly taken £10 from me to be used as credit but I cannot now obtain a service, product or PAYG pack.

I get this message:

£10.00 will be taken from your credit

Hit confirm and we'll take £10.00 straight away. Your pack will begin straight away.

Followed by:

Thanks - you've purchased a new pack

We've taken £0.00 from your credit to pay for the £10 Pack

You now have: £10.00 credit remaining

Also, and this is even worse on EE's part, I cannot make any phone calls or texts. It is as if the network has gone dead. When I try and make a phonecall, there is a single dial tone then nothing. I cannot even text 150 although they can happily message me.

Please can somebody look into this for me.

I currently live in Milan and hope this doesn't have anything to do with it. I've read somewhere that a PAYG sim has to be activated in the UK first... this is shocking.

Kind regards

Hi @mpaul21

Your PAYG SIM needs to be activated on the UK EE network (hence why it's a UK network SIM). If you don't activate it on EE UK network it won't work.

There is no way around this.

Given your last paragraph I assume you already know this from searching the forums.

Thanks
