I want to change from a phone contact to a sim only contract. Does that count as an upgrade?

Looking to upgrade. Want SIM only. On chat was quoted £9 per month. When I try to upgrade on line the cheapest is £13 why? Unable to connect to chat today.

Are you still in your Phone Contract Period or is it ended now ?
Depending on the above will make a difference, when you spoke to Chat did they know this is moving from Phone to SIM Only Contract or thinking this was a new or additional Sim Only deal

Thanks for your reply. Contract ends 5th Sept, so eligible to upgrade now. Yeah, made it clear, and they said they could set it up now at £9 per month. Said I would have a short spell to think about it. I thought I'd made it clear it was an upgrade I wanted and not an add on, but what you have said makes sense if they thought it was an additional SIM only. I will try and get back on Chat and clarify.

Yeah I just thought I'd qualify because it can challenging if you're half way through paying off your phone contract, so yeah this would be seen as an upgrade or changing over to SIM only on a new contract.
The £9 thing, yes is possible it's a better deal than the standard Online one as Chat and Real Speaking CS can or do have some deals that they can pull out from under the table for existing customers in order to obtain another Fresh Contract so always a good thing to ask if it's not offered.
When you go back to chat or speak to them make your tell them you've already been offered a deal to stay with EE.
