I upgraded my phone on the 5th march in a we store for a pre order Samsung s20 ultra and have heard nothing at all since. My current phone battery is failing rapidly.
i know there is a pandemic going on but what’s annoying me is why haven’t I heard anything at all about my order

I've just called EE about my S20 Ultra 128gb Cosmic Grey (which I was expecting Tuesday) to be told that she could see they have stock available, so if orders were placed today, they would be delivered tomorrow. On that basis, she said my pre-order should be delivered tomorrow....fingers crossed!

Sorry mate but that isn't true either, iPhones are made in china at a company called Foxconn and Samsung phones are not made in china at ALL.
Take a look at the manufacturing centres, none are based in china and south Korea focus on R&D.
Most phones come from Vietnam, they closed the last chinese factory in either 2017 or 2019, can't quite remember

I found this on the Samsung site, regarding the buds....
"Claims must be submitted between 00.01 (GMT) 10 March 2020 and 23:59 (BST) 31 May 2020 (the “Claim Period”). Claims received outside the Claim Period will be marked as invalid and will not be accepted."

phoned up and they said only the S20 and the plus versions are in stock, the ultra is on back order, that I can believe more than anything.

I did wonder if that would have something to do with it.

Correct, Samsung shut its own in-house factories in China, but still use third party factories in China to produce components and assemble handsets.

One more will be in stock soon, cos mines going back. It's rubbish! (512GB Ultra 5G)
Camera is nowhere near the hype. My iPhone 11 Pro Max takes better pictures (and video).
The over smoothing on the photos is horrible. Most noticeable on pets.
The "Space Zoom" I guess we knew that was a gimmick anyway, it is.
The phone itself is very fast for an Android device, very slick. The 120Hz refresh rates makes no difference in the real world, another gimmick. So if anyone keeps it, stick to 60Hz and enjoy a better battery life.

Did you update the software? Supposedly the latest patch fixes a lot of the camera processing issues.
Still, I've heard similar reports from other places (even after the patch). Maybe the delay to me getting my phone is a blessing in disguise. More time for Samsung to patch the issues and if they don't, I can cancel it later.

There's an update that fixes the camera, have you gotten that

I pre-ordered on 27th. Spoke to the Customer Care manager after they were meant to call me but didn't, they confirmed that the date is 31st March and she claimed that it has been the date on the website since pre-orders began. https://web.archive.org/web/20200215121925/https://shop.ee.co.uk/mobile-phones/pay-monthly/samsung-g... says otherwise. She also debunked my local store claiming the devices will be in quarantine for the next few weeks. Was unable to offer any help other than an apology.
I went into 3 EE stores and heard 3 different things today, I have recordings of 6 phone calls all saying different things also. This is an abysmal first experience and if I could cancel and go to a different network without losing the Buds+ pre-order benefit I would.
