Hi, I have just upgraded my sim only essential plan to a sim only smart plan. just wondering will need a new sim card to start getting 5G? I forgot to ask on the phone if I should be expecting a new sim card in the post

It sounds like you've simply changed your account from one SIM-only to another SIM-only.
Unless there is a problem with your existing SIM, there's no reason that a change of payment plan should require a replacement.
Access to the 5G-network requires a 5G-price-plan, but there's no such thing as a "5G SIM" or "4G SIM".
