@Patty-53 : Who's gonna pay for it then? EE can't just foist the charges on her w/out her agreement. Have you asked her to take it over? If the contract is in your name you can just cancel it.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

Hi @Patty-53 ,

Are you still within the minimum term of the contract which you agreed to at the point of taking out the contract?

The proper way to remove your daughter off your contract will be to cancel the plan or contract paying for her phone and/or SIM service. One good way to cancel is to use a PAC so that the number is kept.

If you do this within the minimum term of the contract, early termination charges will apply and this will usually be at a high disadvantage because the charges will be similar to paying the full term of the contract but not receiving the service (at least I believe EE will not charge VAT so you save at least that).

If you are outside the minimum term, you will want to double check that the device is unlocked for use on all networks (otherwise you may end up with a device that cannot be used with a new SIM and have a horrible time trying to unlock it in the future) and then coordinate with your daughter for her to take out a contract with a different service provider and you can provide her a PAC (double check it's for her contract) to port her number out (usage of which will cancel the contract on your side).

If your daughter wishes to stay with EE, it would be best for you to both attend an EE store and arrange for the contract to be taken over/transferred.

Hi @Patty-53

As others have alluded to, you and your daughter will need to make a decision on who is going to be responsible for her phone in future, if it's not you. Her age will also impact on this, as a pay-monthly account can only be help by someone aged 18 or over who can pass the credit check.

You have an option of performing a change of ownership, whereby legal responsbility passes from yourself to whoever takes the account over - details on EE's process for this are on this EE help page

If there is no-one suitable to take responsibility, then you can remove your daughter from your account by virtue of disconnecting the line - but this will cancel her phone entirely.

If neither of these are appropriate, the remaining option is to cancel the pay-monthly plan and convert your daughter's phone into a PAYG whereby it needs regularly topping up to work.

Any disconnection or transfer to PAYG will rely on her phone being out of its minimum contractual term.
