Re: Moving sim from Samsung S5 to Samsun A41 with the same phone number

Does this also work for an iPhone? I just got an iPhone 13 to replace my old iPhone, moved the PAYG SIM and it seems to work, but I'm not getting texts any more. I am in the US, use this SIM when I travel to UK, would like to know it's working before I set out next month. I tried texting to 150 for a BOOST status to text it, but got no reply.

@JakeRich : How does it seem to work? Can you make calls and texts with it?

When did you last use this PAYG SIM for a chargeable action? They are disabled after 6 months of non-use.

I used it last week. It's active, I get texts from EE almost every day for one reason or another, at least I did before I moved it to the new iPhone. It seems to work because when I enter the text it shows as "Delivered" but never shows up on the iPhone. So, it's giving the appearance of receiving the text, but not displaying it. And when I texted "BOOST" to 150, I got no response from EE. So, although it seems to be working, and is giving the appearance of working, it's not actually delivering the texts to me.

Receiving texts is free and so doesn't count.

I have no idea what that means. EE allows me to top up the account, posts to the account, then decrements for the services. I get an acknowledgment from EE for the top up and the account change. I get texts from EE saying that to access the internet from the US I would need to buy one of the Roaming Data add-ons. So, the card certainly is acting as if it were active. And I just texted to EE as a test in response to one of their texts encouraging me to buy an add-on, and it responded in seconds, so it's working. Or appears to be.

If that was recently, then it can't have gone into hibernation and it should behave the same in the new phone as in the old.

@XRaySpeX The most recent top up and renewal was September 14th, 2021, two weeks ago. I was able to receive one text on the phone on Saturday, right after making the change on Friday, but nothing since then. No error messages, no "undelivered" notice. Just not seeing the incoming texts on the iPhone at all. I get a "Welcome to the US" text from EE every so often, giving me the rates for calls and what to do to get Internet. The last one of those was Sept 20th, after on on Sept 1 and August 14. I had topped up and renewed in August and have kept the card active since then. I don't use the card in the US as I have a US account, but I want it to be active as soon as I arrive in the UK, so I can contact my driver that I am there. That's why I "tickle" the account every so often to keep the SIM active. And it was until Saturday. But not since then.

What does "renew" mean? Renew what? Did you buy a pack?

"Renew" means renew. Here is the text I get from EE periodically. This one was from 14 Sept:

Your £10 Pack has renewed giving you 100 minutes, unlimited texts and 4GB to use in the UK & EU for up to 30 days and £10.00 has come out of your credit. You also have a Data Rollover of 4GB from your last Pack.

This will automatically renew on 14/10 as long as you have £10.00 credit. To keep track of your usage go to ee.co.uk/myee or reply AL

And of course, to even use a PAYG, you must purchase a Pack, which then renews monthly as long as there is credit. I originally selected this particular pack in August, then renewed it in September. As I have been saying, it worked until I moved the SIM to the new iPhone.

@JakeRich : Good, so you topped up & with it auto bought the next pack as recently as 14 Sept. So the SIM is still active & should work in either phone just as well.

BTW: You don't have to buy packs to use PAYG. By texting STOP PACK to 150 before you next top-up you can use the SIM for calls & texts but not data as normal PAYG at standard per-unit rates paid for out of your standing PAYG credit balance.
