Porting number to new SIM only deal on EE

lu13

HI - my contract is up for renewal at end of Nov and I would like to switch to a SIM only deal but keep my number. There are much better offers for new contracts (and I have a work discount for new contracts) so this will be much more cost effective than simply switching within my current EE account. But is it possible to port my number from an "old" EE contract to a "new" EE contract? Seems like this should be easier but I can't seem to find the answer! Thank you!

If you want to change your device or plan while keeping your number, EE allow you to do this via the upgrade process.

It's quite common amongst service providers, not just telecoms, to offer introductory discounts for new customers. If existing customers contact EE C/S then quite often there may be account-specific offers available.

Hi @lu13.

Welcome to the community.

To get a new contract but keep your current number, you would usually have to port your number to another network, then back into EE.

I'd recommend having a word with our Sales/Upgrades Teams about this.

Thanks for replying. Quite frankly a ridiculous process! Seems EE are engaging in anti-competitive behaviours here by forcing this. Surely they can make things easier for their customers, that ultimately want to stay with them?!

EE won't port nos between contracts. So you need to 1st port your existing no to another network's PAYG using a PAC from EE & then in reverse port it back to your new contract. This will also have the effect of cancelling your old contract.

You could alternatively "upgrade" your old contract to PAYG & then ask EE to transfer the no to your new contract.

Hi

Similar problem contract ending better deals as a new customer, I’m thinking of double porting(so from EE to another network then back to EE within a few days) is this something you did to solve problem?

Hi @Tinky0075,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

If you are looking to get your new phone from another retailer, they may be able to upgrade you on EE. Most retailers will have a dedicated upgrade section on their website.
