Number porting with a twist

ElDel

Hi all,

I have just purchased a Samsung S20+ which is due to be delivered tomorrow.  I am currently with Three and have a Samsung S10+.  I am looking to port my old number across to EE but at the same time, I need to keep the other phone active with Three as I am going to give it to my grandson (I will continue to pay the remaining months on the Three contact).

Is there an easy way around this or would I be better off just taking a new number with my new phone?

TIA

Hi @ElDel

At the root of this, you want to port a number whilst also keeping it active on its current network.

This cannot be done - porting, by its nature, moves the number and cancels the original contract.

You may be able to juggle around by taking a PAYG phone with 3 and trying to shuffle the numbers around to keep one and port the other, but it could get awfully messy and I'm not entirely sure it would even work.

Thank you for your swift response. I guess I will just have to learn a new 11 digit string lol

I thought it sounded like it could be complicated; it is so difficult when you can't pop into a local shop for help.
