Number Transfer

Seanoz

Hi,

I have 2 contracts with EE mine and my sons. We have been with EE a number of years. My Son is autistic and has a thing for number patterns this is causing problems as he cannnot remember his current number as there is no pattern to it. EE have said a gold number would be best (£511) but I have purchased a pre pay sim on ebay that is a fantastic pattern number how do I go about getting his current contract number replaced with the one i have purchased. We still have around 19 months left on current contracts.

Thanks.

Hi @Seanoz and welcome to the EE community!

That is a very good question, and to break it down into the mechanicals..

You want to migrate a (currently live) PAYG number onto an existing pay-monthly account.

In order to change a pay-monthly number to a "specified" (as opposed to "next available") number, I'm fairly sure that number has to be "reserved" on the same billing account - and how you get it there could be the tricky bit.

I can think of a few potential ways around this, but as to whether they are feasible or not is another question. The staff team on this forum are best placed to advise here.

Thank you for your help

I just hope it can be done as home life is hard enough without the problems
from my son about his mobile number .

Just to confirm, is the PAYG number you have just bought on EE or another network?

If it's another network, you can just request a PAC and give that to EE on your contract number.

If it's on EE PAYG, EE may be able to do something, or you can PAC out to another network PAYG network, and then PAC back to your EE contract SIM.

That is an excellent point.

My previous response was based on assuming the PAYG number from eBay was an EE one.

Ironically enough, it would be easier if it weren't - and you could just get a PAC from the alternative network and port that into the existing pay-monthly account.

Hi

Its an EE pay as you go number.

Thanks

I don't know if EE will transfer an EE PAYG number to an existing contract, it's worth asking them though.

The alternative is to PAC the PAYG number to another network PAYG, then you can request a PAC for that, and PAC in to your EE contract SIM.  This can be done in 4 days if everything goes well.

e.g.

Monday. Get EE PAC and give to new network.

Tuesday. Number transfers to new network PAYG

Wednesday. Get PAC from new network and give to EE

Thursday. Your EE contract SIM now has the new number attached to it.

Yes it's a faff, and you may have to top up the PAYG numbers depending on which network you pick, but you end up with the new number on your EE account.

Hopefully EE will have a simpler solution for you if you ask though!
