New router won't connect to smart TV

Set up new router yesterday (with BT previously) and all of my devices connected with zero problems. I can't get my smart TV (JVC) to connect at all. I've tried connecting it via WPS and manually on both 2.4 and 5ghz. I've tried unplugging router and plugging it back in after 60s as was recommended when looking online, and have also done the same for the TV. Neither worked. I can connect to the NowTV stick fine, just not the actual TV. I've called the helpline for the TV and they did a few tests to confirm that it isn't a problem with the TV. Last night I spoke to someone on the technical help team at EE and they said I've tried everything so they've ordered me a new router. The new router isn't going to be here for another 5 days so I just wanted to know if there's anything else I can try? I feel like there must be a reason it isn't working, considering I've had no problems with any other device.

Check the WiFi Channels your using, could be the TV has limitations on which Channels it can use.

Would you be able to explain this further please? How do I know which channels to choose? Do I just pick randomly and see what works? And will it disrupt the connection to my other devices?

Thanks for your quick response!

Hi @StefThorp92 ,

Does the JVC smart TV have a RJ45 Ethernet port to make the connection with a cable instead? A quick search online suggests that some JVC smart TVs do have such a port.

To fix the WiFi connection issue, you may want to review the JVC manual. One thing to check is whether the JVC only supports WPA and the router is set to WPA2, or some other such incompatibility with authentication. The better play is to use a wired connection where this doesn't involve trailing a wire throughout the length of your property.

Which router do you have, Smart Hub, or Smart Router?

On the Smart Hub under wireless setting there is a Mode option, changing this to one of the other settings may help the TV if it not able to connect on the default setting.

I don't know that Router well but almost certainly if you login to the Router to Admin Settings you will see the Channel Settings for 2.4 and 5Ghz as to set to auto or manual selection.

Google your TV and see what it's Channel Range or what is selectable.

If your using Android on your phone download the App called WiFi Analyser or similar it will give you a good picture of what's going on and an understanding of WiFi Channel and Signal Info etc and what's being use on your Network and surrounding Nieghbours Networks.

I've tried all the channels now and none of them have worked. I'll try downloading the app later and see what I can find out. Thanks for all the advice!
