Network password -Technical/general support, not a common case I believe

Hi all, I have a very uncommon issue, I had a mobile broadband contract over 5 years ago, I still have a modem, I need to retrieve a network password. I do not have any paperwork at all, the modem was just in a laptop case for years. I would like to use it now with a EE data only SIM. I cannot send messages from a modem and I do not have another EE device at home. I can log into my old EE account, but there is no help available on the website at all.

Let's go back to square one as you are seemingly not following what I am trying to say to you.

Just what are you trying to achieve? What I think you are trying to do, use a new EE data SIM in an old Osprey mobile router, is eminently doable & by no means out of the ordinary. I think I have already covered most of the points for doing so.

What "network password" are you looking for. Is it the Osprey's WiFi Key? That should be written on the label under the router:20200719_171550.jpg

Logging into the router has nowt to do with any contract or lack of. You can also send & receive texts from it as I told you outside any contract. It is a device in its own right.

Hi, the network oassword is probably ee Wifi key, i do not have any stickers, so i assume once i have a new SIM i will need to log as admin and follow the steps you advised so far. If i have a problem then i will be in touch again somehow. So the wifi key belongs to a modem, not a sim card ??

I have an EE plastic tiny bag, possibly a sim card bag,  it has puk Code, pin code, phone number (but not in use for 5years) and other bar codes and numbers, but not a wifi key.? I cannot attach a photo

The wifi password should be on the back of the router - if it is old, it should likely have a default Username and Password as Admin/admin/Administrator

In relation to getting the actual wifi password, I assume this router has an Ethernet port, so you'll need to connect a PC to it using that

@Kirigaya_Kazuto : Did I not even post a photo of that & tell the OP how to admin login to it?

The Osprey has no Ethernet port. It is designed to be used over WiFi.

  1. A WiFi Key/ Password is a property of all WiFi routers. Nowt to do with any SIMs.
  2. To find the WiFi Key of your MBB router, login to it at http://192.168.1.1 with username/pwd as "admin"/"admin" & navigate to the WiFi Settings tab where you may see it in clear.
  3. When you get a new SIM it will have its own mobile no which will be printed on the little polythene envelope, such as you have, or you can get by text as I told you.
