Iphone11

New iPhone 11 not recognised by my Land Rover Freelander despite EE assurances it would be - cannot assign device to vehicle or vice versa. Other LR club members have had no issues assigning later models to earlier year cars. Any suggestions?

Also transferred everything from old iphone6 which had a trash folder - the 11 has a bin which conflicts with old folder- how do I remove it?

Sadly neither issue resolved - still getting messages saying to remove conflicting junk folder. Been into that folder on house computer and won’t allow me to delete; hoped I might move it elsewhere then delete but no 😩

As for the car, still won’t recognise the handset regardless of what I do.

Looks like handset’s going back

Hi @baser999,

Have you tried removing your email account from the phone and re-adding it?

Are you trying to connect to your car via Bluetooth or Apple CarPlay?

James

Car is via Bluetooth - have a Freelander, no issues with the old iphone6 , just doesn’t want to know with the 11. Not listed by Land Rover as compatible yet I’m aware of others with later models syncing on to much older Freelanders.

Settings show 2 accounts - me@hotmail, me@icloud. Someone said not to delete either

Hi @baser999,

Two email accounts or two Apple ID's? Did you create a new iCloud email address when you setup the new phone? If you don't use the iCloud email address, it's safe to remove it from your phone.

Can your phone see your car is the list of available Bluetooth connections? Have you referred to your car's manual for help with connecting a new device?

James

I have a hotmail account and an iCloud account. Had the hotmail since I first set myself up an email account. iCloud account ‘self generated’ possibly when I got my first iPhone? Not an account I’d consciously set up

As for the car, been into the manual and on line, just doesn’t recognise the 11

Hi @baser999,

If you aren't using the iCloud email, you can remove it from your inbox.

What is the setup process for your car? Does it not show in the list of available devices on your iPhone?

Have you made sure no other Bluetooth devices are connected when setting it up?

James

Was told to leave both accounts - I never set the iCloud account up, so can be easily removed I presume?
As for the car if I go ‘device to car’ it doesn’t recognise the handset, vice versa and its giving me 2 minutes to log in but the car doesn’t appear on the drop down list.
can only assume it’s not compatible though that doesn’t explain why others get new models of iPhone to affiliate on their older sane make car

Despair of it all now

Hi @baser999,

Bluetooth compatibility is fairly universal. Have you tried reaching out to Land Rover for support?

James

Awaiting response from LR - been through Freelander club forum and no resolve that route, hence posting here
