I assume you ordered from EE.

Sadly I'm not surprised theres a delay.

This is deliberate policy from Apple.

I wrote a post earlier last month warning of this very thing. Apple as you're no doubt aware are an absolute colossus when it comes to smartphones. They set prices, set stock levels and ensure colossal demand by various 'means' , one of which is deliberatly limiting supply. This keeps the psyche of 'Awww there's a shortage due to colossal demand so it must be worthwhile' going so that keeps the demand high and also ensures absolutly NO DISCOUNT WHATSOEVER.

So unfortunatly I'm sure EE ordered multiple thousands of these handsets. And say for example EE ordered 60000 of them all for delivery on release day. Apple will then supply 30000 and let the rest of the order trickle in over the next few months via the excuse 'the demand is so high...look we are having to fly them in via Antonov An400 transport aircraft...(which they do in any case)' .

Unfortunaly it is out of EEs hands when you get your handset, payment up front or not.

I hope you're sorted soon but the odds are against it.

I wasn’t told up to 4 weeks, this was last weeks.

I also ordered a homepod mini which was in stock. 3 days later I got an email saying it’s out of stock! Shambles

EE staff are as much in the dark as anyone else.

They can be told one thing only to find out when being confronted by an angry customer that the shipment has encountered an unexpected delay due to massive demand.

I'm not defending you being let down. But the issue is with Apple rather than EE . And it'll be the case with all the UK networks.

You might have been lucky with one Apple product. But as for the 12 Pro ...no chance.

It's a bit of a shambles taking upfront payment and then not hearing anything 😢

My issue isn’t with EE about the shipment, it’s just about having their online stock correct. Don’t lie saying there stock when there isn’t.
