I have moved to France and have bought a new French iPhone with a new number and a virtual SIM. However, the shop told me I could keep my English number for English calls and WhatsApp by simply putting my old SIM into the new phone. I have done this and it works.
However, I am still paying a monthly plan fee with EE (my contract finished months ago) and I want to change it to SIM only. I have tried to do this online, and EE is saying it will post me a SIM card. But I don't need a new SIM card - I just want to change the payment plan to use my old SIM in the new phone.
Confused? Sorry. But if anyone can help and advise how I just keep the old SIM on a SIM only contract, that would be so helpful.
Thanks
O

Hi @owenm1
If you upgrade online and move to SIM only, your existing SIM will just update to your new plan. You wouldn't usually get a new SIM when you upgrade.

Don’t know if you can help again, but I’ve just placed the order for an EE multi SIM, and it tells me EE is going to deliver it to my UK address. Does that mean it won’t update my existing SIM with the new contract?
Also, do I need to proactively cancel my old payment plan, or will it do that automatically?
Thanks very much for your help

How did you place the order for a multi-SIM? Was this using the "order a replacement SIM" link? Or have you actually ordered a new PAYG SIM, with its own number, perhaps?
EE payment plans never cancel proactively or automatically, you always need to explicitly give 30days notice to disconnect or cancel.
You've been correctly advised previously that a change of payment plan does not require a replacement SIM, unless your current SIM is broken or won't fit a new phone. A change of payment plan is just that - a change of payment plan, that can often be done immediately you request it.

Hi
Thanks for your help. In the end, I was getting so confused with what I'd done, I rang and managed to get through to EE. Wow, I had really messed up my order.
I appreciate you taking the trouble to reply and for being helpful.
Many thanks
O
