Huawei P40 pro app decline

Danny70

Hi all,

has anyone else noticed that the number of APPS available through the APK/APP STORE/PETAL SEARCH is in decline. a number of apps I had previously now do not work at all.

I have just under another year on my contract and really cannot wait to get rid of Huawei, such a shame as the phone itself and camera are amazing.

can anyone advise as to whether or not EE should be able to reduce the early upgrade fees? not looking to have it waivered but reduced a bit would be nice

@Danny70   EE responsibility is for calls/text and data after this apps that do not work on your device and not covered by your contract.

EE wasn’t to know that these apps we’re going to cease to function after a certain period of time.

Unfortunately you can not lower your tariff because of this.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

You might be better off using and installing a Second Space App on the Phone that allows you to Install Google Play Store within the Second Space Area, that will allow you to download most Apps from the Play Store on to your Huawei, most of the Apps work, the ones where you are going to have issues with are the Apps that require Google Phone Certification, like Banking Apps etc.

There are a couple of Second Space Apps I've tried and tested on a P40 that seem to work well, I can't name the Apps as I don't have the Phone with me at the mo but can post up if your interested.

On the above you will need to decide whether your happy installing a Second Space App Software on your phone from a 3rd Party Source.

The other option is if you have access to another Android Phone with Play Store on and then Install your Apps to there then use the Huawei APK Cloner across to the P40 but it is a bit of a fuff around if I'm honest and your still have the Google Certification issue on certain Apps.

I wasn't looking to lower he tariff, I would like to stay with EE and carry out an early upgrade however was hoping that they may as I've been with EE since day one and past that when it was formerly known as Orange they would look to lower the FEE. as you can imagine its just shy of £400.

issue is also the apps i use to operate home devices such as Alexa and home security systems.

I doubt installing a 2nd space would overcome that issue

@Danny70  there is nothing stopping you from calling customer services and saying you would like to pay off the contract so you can upgrade early this will obviously mean you have to pay off your contract.  Your contract doesn’t include what apps do or do not work on your device as they are out of EEs control.  I’ve got loads of apps that no longer work as they haven’t been updated.

I can't comment on Alexa and your home Security as no testing on them.

The Google Phone Certification is purely for Playstore App Installation to Phone Certification and has no bearing on the Phones WiFi or Home Router protocols or Comms.

Another option for you if your not keen of a Second Space Area, is to Install Amazon App Store on the Phone directly from Amazon but I never used this Store so no idea about which Apps are on Amazon.

Interestingly and slightly Off Topic, Microsoft are going to end up in a similar boat by claiming the new Windows 11 OS will Run Android Apps, sadly it won't be the Play Store because of the MS and Google relationship so odds on it will be the Amazon App Store will come into play here.
